Every place we have visited, we ask ourselves “could we live here and would we want to?”. Many places we visit satisfy that question but some are just not practical and others are not affordable. Tennessee weather has become pretty intolerable for me, and I am tired of having to drive 20-30 minutes to do anything. It isn’t a state that lends itself to ease-of-living in cities or towns, and is hostile to alternative forms of transportation. And then there’s the education gap and the politics….. Eh, I’ll just leave that where it is.
Where in the US would suit us? Sadly, nowhere. The weather we would like is probably found in the Southwest or California (San Diego perhaps) but all is unaffordable or too crowded or both. Hawaii has everything we’d like to do but frankly it’s further away than Portugal and way more expensive.
